About 80 people ransacked a high-end department store in the San Francisco Bay area on Saturday night, local time. Some of them wore ski masks, waved crowbars, attacked clerks, stole goods, and then fled the crime scene in a waiting car, police and witnesses said.

Local police said in a statement issued on Sunday that the large-scale theft at Nordstrom mall shocked shoppers inside and outside the mall. Three people were arrested in the incident, but most escaped. Two employees were attacked in the shopping mall, and an employee was hit by pepper spray. The police called it "obviously a planned event."

NBC Bay Area reporter Jody Hernandez said on twitter that she saw the bandits rush into the mall 32 kilometers north of Jiujin Shandong. She said on Twitter: "about 25 cars blocked the street, rushed into Nordstrom mall, took the goods, got in the car and left quickly."

According to the report, mobile phone videos from the scene showed masked people pouring out of stores, holding bags and boxes, jumping into cars and fleeing the scene.

Brett Barrett, the manager of a nearby restaurant, locked the door when he saw the chaos. "We may see 50 to 80 people wearing ski masks, crowbars and a pile of weapons," Barrett said

The local police said they found a gun from an arrested suspect.

Police said that just the day before the incident, a large group of people broke into several high-end stores in Union Square in San Francisco. They smashed windows, robbed goods and fled by car. It is reported that the stores of Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, burberry and Du Gabbana were the targets of the robbery on Friday night.
