When your nervous system is damaged or not working properly, you can experience neuropathy pain. Nerve, spinal cord, and brain pain can occur at any of the different levels of the nervous system.
Peripheral neuropathy may be treated by treating the underlying cause or symptoms.
Some underlying causes may require more effective treatment. Controlling diabetes may help improve neuropathy, or at least prevent it from getting worse.
You may also need medicine to treat any nerve pain you are experiencing (neuropathic pain).
Painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen do not usually work against neuropathic pain, so drugs like other medications are often used.
