The Fragile Bond, by Augustus Napier

This book may be out of print now, but it's the best single book on family and therapy I've ever read. The author goes through the various forms of dysfunction that can be present in families (while most families have some type of dysfunction, he's talking more about more extreme cases, not just "sometimes my parents fight" type stuff) and how those models affect individuals who grow up in those environments. His insights for the mental habits and emotional routines we get stuck in as individuals/former children of dysfunctional families are profound, and his tools for learning, growing, and healing from the damages of family trauma are better than any I've ever read in another book.
