A Self-Hypnosis Technique

There are many techniques for self-hypnosis. What works for one person might not work for another, but that is the benefit of having so many different methods to choose from. This one might be a little difficult to explain, but there is a self-hypnosis/meditation technique that can be really helpful. It involves clearing your mind, making sure there are no distracting thoughts going through your head, and then thinking of a happy setting. It could be anything, as long as it brings you happiness or a sense of calm or peace. Once this place is in your head, and you can picture it clearly in your mind, and you focus on it and nothing else, start to slowly and rhythmically tap your fingers against your legs or knees. This movement helps you concentrate and can help calm the nerves. After using this method several times, your brain will start to associate the tapping movement with a sense of calm. After a while, if you find yourself in a stressful situation, you can subtly tap your fingers against your legs, and this motion will likely trigger a calming response. While this technique is helpful, it likely will not work for everyone, but it is one of the simpler self-hypnosis methods out there. Do you guys have any self-hypnosis methods that are similar? Have you used this specific technique before? If so, what was your experience with it?
