Marketing, Writing and SEO Resources

I am in the process of learning more about all the things in the title and I have found some interesting resources.

Hubspot Academy. The cool thing is that they even offer certificates! I think that is a great way of showing future clients that I am willing to learn, interested in my field of study, and know what I am talking about. Even if your career is not in online things, nor writing, I think it is still an interesting skill to learn.

GenM: It is a volunteer/internship program which I am starting on Monday so I don't know yet about that part. However, you do not have to sign up for that and can just take the courses instead. They have a nice phone app that works pretty well. I use it whenever I have a 10 or 15 minute break and nothing to do.

Google Certifications: I have not started them yet, so I cannot say anything about the quality. But they have interesting free courses, even though you sometimes have to pay for the certification.

Do you guys know any other online (free) courses for copy writing, SEO, marketing etc?

I suggest you check out the website Edx. They offer courses from top universities across the world. I am currently taking a marketing class from them that I enjoy. You do have to upgrade to the paid version to get a certificate, but they are a nonprofit so you know that at least the money is going back into the programming.

Thank you for this resource Shannon - I hadn't heard about Edx

Can also vouch for Hubspot and Google Analytics! They're free, easy to follow, and just short enough that you don't lose focus!!

Well! Thanks for sharing about marketing and seo company resources for getting traffic on websites. Paid clicks and searches are really a blessing to business undertakings. Conquering the market and coming along with competitors is very necessary to increase the sales graph towards upward trends.

I’ve used Skillshare a lot. It has a cool interface and there’s a solid range of short and long courses in the categories I’ve been interested in (iPhone photography for social media and content and creative writing).

I had insomnia one night with anxiety over the practical longevity of my current career as a teacher, so I looked into web development courses online and found very in-depth ones at Udemy. I like that you don’t need a monthly subscription, you just buy the ones you want.

I’m interested to hear updates about the GenM internship! Sounds cool.

I used to be a software trainer and was always impressed with the materials by lynda.com -- we sometimes used their workbooks for MS courses and they were great take-homes. The audio courses and books are great workouts of the main feature of a given application if you make sure to follow along as often exercises build on the last one.

I will add that generally, I was never convinced that our 1,2,3 day classes were worth the money about 250/day. I generally got rave reviews - but I tweaked my classes to earn them. Students, who were generally sent by companies, loved lots of breaks and going home early. They also loved tricks that they could show off with or that implied mastery. The most motivated and those who could learn visually while following my voice did the best. ALso where the class was all from one company, they would compete and help each other stay on top of the screens. I think for them it was a great intro to a program.

No short course can insure mastery - even level 2 or 3. We taught 3 levels of Excel for instance. Most students took 1 class. I personally thought one class should be 3 days of 6 hours to ensure a good understanding of the salient features of Excel.
Some aps would require weeks, imo, to be close to mastery e.g MS Project. Basically if you followed along and clicked were I clicked, you'd have gained a passing intro to the main screens but you would not be able to really use the program independently to manage a real project.

My point, if I have one, is -- either get trained on someone else's dime or learn something you're really motivated to use so you can focus on online or irl courseware

This post is very nice and interesting. I am also a business owner and in order to be the big winner in the industry, we certainly need strong marketing strategies. I have been using various social media platforms as well as the services for bulk car sales text messages. I am very happy with the results.
