    Listening to music while writing

I often listen to ambient playlists on Spotify. Those are very calming for me, and they help me focus on what I'm writing. I try to never listen to anything too loud, and I avoid anything with singing.

    Depressed family member

I have a member of my immediate family who has struggled with depression for years, but will not seek treatment. He sees it as a waste of time, and says he can solve his own problems. Meanwhile, he is more and more reliant on alcohol to feel happy. Can anyone help me convince him to seek...

    How to use self hypnosis

I've been trying for some time to eat better, but I find myself falling back into the same old habits. Is self-hypnosis something that could help me get over this hump?

    Confidence

I agree, the less time you spend in your own head, the more you'll be able to focus and listen to other people you meet. Another thing I struggle with is being interested in other people, and I find that thinking less about my feelings of anxiety helps with that. It's kind of like fake-smiling...

For the last 4 months, I've been trying in vain to find a job. I had a goal: do one full application a day, and I've stuck to that ever since. I'm still not getting any work, though - does anyone have any thoughts?

    Trying to eat better

Does anyone have any advice for staying focused on eating better? This is one of the hardest parts of trying to stay healthy, I've found. I can start off fine, but then after a week or two I fall back into my old habits. Any advice is welcome...

    Rest your body & mind

100%. If you don't get enough sleep, you'll never catch up to what you need to do in the day. This affects everyone, and not sleeping can, over time, start to have a detrimental effect on heart health, mental health, etc. You really do need those 8 hours...

    Friend/Family interferences in relationships

I think you have to weigh whether or not the person has a fair point. If they're giving advice because they have your best interests at heart, it's healthy to listen and consider what they say. If they're doing it out of jealousy or some other less-noble motivation, you might want to ignore that...
